Louise Higgs is a versatile London based multi-disciplinary artist born in Walthamstow, East London whose work spans photography, film, sculpture and writing poetry. Her artwork explores shared human experience, the ‘felt sense’, and everyday hidden aspects making them overt - toward legacy/memorial pieces. Passionate about the ‘Arts and Craft movement’, process and reflection remain pivotal: crafting, hand-hammering metal, forming, and working in wood.
Louise has a love of nature, with a daily practice of taking photographs at Twilight. Her ‘Twilight Series’ focusses on the quality/differences of light - noticing form, colour, flowers, luminescence, and the negative space surrounding- recently evolving into painting. She is also a qualified Art Psychotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK.

A Coat of Strengths: Winstanley Estate, nr. Clapham Junction, London
In May 2025, Louise's Steel sculpture ‘A Coat of Strengths’ was commissioned by Wandsworth Council for the ‘Winstanley Past, Present and Future Festival’, co-created with residents living on the Winstanley Estate, London to create a community ‘Coat of Arms’ depicting their individual strengths on the central Shield. It was a part of the ‘London Festival of Architecture 2025’ and will remain a permanent artwork on the Estate. Louise is developing and enjoying her work as an emerging community public artist using co-creation as method.
