For the RCA's Spatial Value initiative, this proposal reflects on the ecological and sociological issues of the site in Battersea. The lack of biodiversity is apparent from the paving in Hester Road, SW11 4AY, while human gathering is restricted by 'private proerty' signage and wind tunnels.

The event 'Community Shell Choir' intervenes with a brief, unique performance which leaves no physical trace, to encourage the gathering of pedestrians, residents, students and staff.

Making an instrument from the shell of a sea-snail is a reminder of our connection with other species, and the Thames with the sea. Using this instrument which is both ancient and contemporary - created at the RCA - it mixes local history with imagined future.
